Le calendrier de fin de support
Microsoft a mis fin aux mises à jour gratuites pour Windows 10 le 14 octobre 2025. Le système d'exploitation continue de fonctionner, mais les correctifs de sécurité s'arrêtent sauf si vous vous inscrivez au programme payant de mises à jour de sécurité étendues (ESU) — généralement 30 $/an pour les particuliers, 61 $ la première année pour les entreprises (doublant chaque année).
Windows 11 reçoit des mises à jour gratuites au moins jusqu'en octobre 2031. Chaque version de Windows 11 est livrée avec TPM 2.0 imposé, la sécurité basée sur la virtualisation activée par défaut et un ancrage de confiance de classe Pluton sur les puces récentes.

Windows 11 impose des exigences matérielles strictes : TPM 2.0, démarrage sécurisé, 4 Go+ de RAM, 64 Go+ de stockage et un CPU figurant sur la liste des processeurs pris en charge par Microsoft (environ Intel 8e génération / AMD Zen 2 ou plus récent).

Si le résultat est positif
Ouvrez Paramètres → Windows Update → « La mise à niveau vers Windows 11 est prête ». Comptez 30 à 60 minutes.
Si le résultat est négatif
Notez l'exigence non satisfaite. Le TPM est souvent désactivé dans le BIOS — activez « PTT » (Intel) ou « fTPM » (AMD), redémarrez et relancez le contrôle.
Matériel vraiment incompatible
Achetez ESU pour un an de plus ou remplacez le PC. Une clé Windows 11 Pro sur ce site (€18) est moins chère que 12 mois d'ESU grand public.
Les différences de fonctionnalités à connaître
Windows 11 n'est pas qu'un simple restyling. Le modèle de sécurité sous-jacent est nettement plus robuste et plusieurs fonctionnalités de productivité n'existent que sous Windows 11.

Une mise à niveau sur place conserve les applications et les fichiers, mais vous devriez tout de même effectuer une sauvegarde avant d'appuyer sur le bouton.
- · Sauvegarde complète de l'image (Macrium Reflect, AOMEI ou Sauvegarde Windows intégrée).
- · Notez les applications 32 bits — Windows 11 les prend toujours en charge, mais vérifiez la compatibilité avec l'éditeur.
- · Désinstallez les outils manifestement non compatibles (anciens clients VPN, antivirus obsolètes).
- · Chargez le portable ou branchez-le sur secteur avant de commencer.
- · Prévoyez une fenêtre de 60 à 90 minutes. Deux redémarrages sont normaux.
